Make-Up Choir Placements this Friday

It already looks like we’re going to have an awesome group of kids in the American Fork Children’s Choir this semester, but we will take new students through the month. If you missed Monday’s placement rehearsal for Concert Choir and Chimes & Voices, we’ll be having a make-up this Friday, 3:30pm at the director’s home studio: 856 N 350 W in American Fork. Just fill out the registration form before showing up: http://goo.gl/forms/PUs6UaQdqUxxYY612 and see http://afcc.choirworks.com/choirsbeginmondayaug22/ for details on times/location/etc..

Ukulele Youth Update

I just uploaded this video on ukulele anatomy that all the students should watch when they have a chance:

There are a few things that your children will need over time and since there is a great deal on a basic Snark Tuner on Amazon, I’d thought now would be a good time to send a message.

Sooner than later your child will need a tuner. Students should be tuning their ukulele every time they play. This is a great deal right now: http://amzn.to/2bGTg82 . Here is a video on using an electronic tuner:

Your child will also need a music stand. I highly suggest getting a sturdy stand (the wire stands have a tendency to drop music on the floor): http://amzn.to/2bOPiaP

Children will also need a strap of some kind. We will have a special ‘strap button party’ in September for anyone wishing to get five dollar strap buttons added to their ukulele (then they can use any strap they wish, even a bootlace or length of paracord).

A New Semester

I’m looking forward to our first rehearsal on Monday at our new location at Greenwood Elementary. I am so grateful to Principal Killpack for hosting us in this time of transition. Please park on the East side parking lot and enter directly into the auditorium via the doors on the East side of the building.

All children/youth will need music on Monday. Please visit http://afcc.choirworks.com/current-repertoire/ to download the PDF files and print. If possible, please put this music in a binder with your child’s name on it.

If you know anyone who would be interested in joining one or more of our programs, please share our info at http://afcc.choirworks.com/ ; we will accept new students through August and possibly into September, depending on our numbers on Monday.

Upcoming: Our ‘Halloween’ performance is scheduled for 6pm, October 12th at Robinson Park (next to the AF Library). There will be food trucks there if you want to make it a dinner event for your family. Our ‘Christmas in the Rotunda’ concert will be 7pm, December 19th at the American Fork Library. Please reserve these dates.

If you haven’t registered yet, please see http://afcc.choirworks.com/choirsbeginmondayaug22/
