American Fork Children’s Choir Offers a Free Music Learning Experience

American Fork, Utah – December 29th, 2014 – After a successful trial and growth period via word-of-mouth, the American Fork Children’s Choir (AFCC) announces that it’s free programs are now available to the public.
Thanks to the generous support of the Timpanogos Arts Foundation and American Fork City, the AFCC has been conducting a trial-run of free programs that are now available to the general public. Choir size has tripled under the current program and the choir has been split into two levels, both of which are tuition free. Children ages 7-14 learn in-tune singing, range extension, sight-reading and other music skills in the open enrollment Unison Choir. In addition, children in the auditioned Two-Part choir learn to sing in harmony and refine their musical skills while singing classic and contempory songs.
Both choirs meet Monday afternoons at Historic City Hall, 31 N Church St. in American Fork. The 2-part Choir meets from 3-4:10pm and the Unison Choir meets from 4:15-5pm.
Membership in the unison choir is limited to 30 participants and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Membership in the 2-part choir is also limited to 30 participants, and is open on an auditioned basis. Those interested in either choir should contact director M. Ryan Taylor via email, mryan@choirworks.com. Placement interviews will be held by appointment on January 5th, 12th and 19th.
Recent performances include the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Alpine Tabernacle and the choir’s annual Christmas in the Rotunda concert at American Fork Library. Upcoming performances include the Thanksgiving Point Tullip Festival and other opportunities.
The AFCC is under the direction of choral veteran and composer M. Ryan Taylor, who holds Kodaly certification for developmental music education as well as degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Composition. This is Taylor’s fifth year with the choir.
